- Coaching and Mentoring: The YPP provides various mentoring and coaching opportunities to support the professional growth and development of Young Professionals. These include:
- YP Buddy: Before joining the program, Young Professionals are assigned a YP buddy from the previous year’s group. YP buddies help new recruits settle into the organization, understand program expectations and challenges, and provide support.
- Technical Buddy: In their hiring units, Young Professionals are assigned an experienced colleague as a “go-to person” to answer technical questions related to their field of expertise.
- WBG Mentor: Once settled into their jobs, Young Professionals can be paired with a senior colleague who serves as a mentor. The mentor provides guidance on career options, “stretch/exposure” assignment opportunities, and helps Young Professionals gain insight into the organizational culture.
- Youth Program Team: The Youth Program Team is dedicated to recruiting and integrating Young Professionals into the WBG. They coordinate activities, provide mentoring and guidance, assist with career strategies, and serve as a resource for Young Professionals seeking support and guidance.
Eligibility Criteria for the World Bank Young Professionals Program
To be eligible for the Young Professionals Program, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

- For IFC & MIGA Placement: Demonstration of 4+ years of relevant experience in finance, political risk insurance and credit enhancement, project/program development, economic development, and/or consulting. Certifications like the CFA are considered advantageous.
